finishing the first project
Things got cleaned up, though just recently I noticed a couple places where dead pixels are showing up.

Art and science
Oil and water? At least that's how many critics see it.
However, some of the best art had something backing it up other than the personal taste of the artist. Historical paintings, mythological paintings, even da vinci's phsysiological drawings have all stood the test of time.
But down to the reviews,
http://www.art.uh.edu/dif/rathArtworks.html - cool site, taken from jill's email. Lots of interesting examples. The whole screen/tv with mouth or eyes, while somewhat unoriginal, definitely have an interesting effect. May just appropriate this idea in my own work.
http://www.rube-goldberg.com/ If you dont know who rube goldberg is you've probably been living under a rock. I like the concepts, but most of the images featured on sight seem somewhat, uncomplicated, compared to what I've seen before. I never liked his style honestly, but the way he creates the machines has fascinated me just as it has millions of others.
http://web.gc.cuny.edu/sciart/index.htm - a site I found on my own, while not much art shown, it does have a lot of information about events dealing with science and art.

Photo Montage
As my focus, or future main project, Id like to focus on a fully animated adult cartoon style. However this project was to be a "photo or photo realistic montage" and I was having a lot of issues finding a muse for the small project. I've had a lot of real life distractions, dad being diagnosed with cancer, grandmother had a couple small strokes, and all the pressure from school, yet lenny (the girl in the animation) kept popping in my head, so therefore I made the photo montage about her in a way, though a very loose way.

New direction: Road Warrior
(this document has not been edited, and is a rough draft, many statements and points to be changed and rearranged.)
Instead of using a mask (both in the sense of a tool and the look) I'm going to use a "Pop-up Video" satire to blend the conceptual elements with the original. In a sense it will be like a music video without music, sound effects/dialogue playing the part of the music, while the pop information will instead include comedic parallels between the characters in the movie and the real Iraq war.
Some obvious parallels are the words actually spoken by "Humungus" who will represent the mysterious and always shrouded in mystery, neo con movement.
The second in command, and blithering, loud-mouthed idiot, spokesmen is similar to the way George Bush has invaded the office and made a fool of himself.
The young child with a steel bladed boomerang will represent the comedians who have cut down the administration and called out its faults in the public eye. Fortunately or unfortunately, depending on how you look at it, these comedians (John Stewart and Stephen Colbert) are almost solely responsible for keeping an eye on the administration in a critical manner. They are not held back by political conventions, and therefore are free to speak freely against the administration. John taking a more direct approach, while Colbert stealthy makes cutting remarks that often go above the heads of his intended victims. John can therefore be seen as the hero, played by Mel Gibson, cool and somewhat reserved, the one who will bring the evil to an end. The boy is most like Colbert, his sharp comments are often ambigous and easy to underestimate, literally throwing people for a loop. Just like the boy who throws his sharp boomerang, the enemies underestimate him, and in turn the blithering idiot (Bush) has his fingers chopped off, while Gayboy's (Cheney) boyfriend is beheaded (Albert Gonzales, and his recent resignation, due to so much criticism and being caught up in ego he doesnt even see the boomerang coming for him, or does anyone warn him).
The tortured corpses on the front of the cars, represent the victims of the aggressive administration, the people tortured in the many prisons, the people bombed in many countries.

Work in progress critique.
This is a work in progress. Obviously the keyframing needs to be cleaned up quite a bit, and I plan to add american flags to most of the cars.
Granted it looks rough, and a bit messy, but that adds to the comedic sense I think. The goofyness of it is intentional.
I chose the characters based on their real life personality. Bush the loud mouthed idiot, and cheney the hot tempered barbarian. I did not put a face over "Humungus" because he represents the shadowy underworld that is neocon politics. After working with it is obvious to me that I need to learn "motion tracking", I think this would make my intended work easier.

Ideas for class
I'd like to work towards effects on real video as well as animation. There really isnt much class wise that I'd like to see other than an open format on my subject matter, so that I can focus mostly on playing around with various tools and effects. In fact I'd prefer only one serious project and the rest be "tests" focused on a few tools/effects than a series of so-so projects.
